The 19th has hired Myrka Moreno and Lance Dixon as audience engagement producers. Megan Kearney will be joining the editorial team as a digital producer and Jasmine Mithani comes as a data visuals reporter.
Moreno joins from Grist, where she was recently a social media coordinator. Before that, she served as a social media engagement fellow. She was also a social media editor at Hilltop Views in Austin, Texas and has interned at The Texas Observer. Moreno graduated from St. Edward’s University.
Dixon recently served as a digital editor at WLRN Public Radio and Television in Miami, Florida. He has also worked at The New Tropic, a site and newsletter designed for curious locals in South Florida. He has also reported for The Miami Herald. Dixon is a 2021 participant in the Poynter Institute’s Leadership Academy for Diversity in Media and is a graduate of Morehouse College and Columbia University – Graduate School of Journalism.
Kearney was recently with the USA Today Network, where she served as statewide digital producer. She has also worked as a regional digital planner and digital content producer. She was a news correspondent at The Gainesville Sun in Florida and has interned at Boca Raton Magazine. She has also interned at Hearst Television and The Parklander Magazine in Florida. Kearney is a University of Florida graduate.
Mithani comes from FiveThirtyEight, where she was a visual journalist/web developer. She has also worked at the South Side weekly in Chicago as a data editor, deputy editor and senior editor. She has also interned at NPR and is a graduate of the University of Chicago.
