Sabens joins Washington Post as designer on the emerging news products team

Emily Sabens

Emily Sabens will be joining The Washington Post full-time as a designer on the emerging news products team, working on the Select app, bringing the publication’s most timely, topical and engaging journalism to life through bold visuals.

Her new role begins Apr. 19.

Previously, Sabens worked as a digital designer and as a news designer at The Post.

She was also an editorial intern and then a fact-checker at Indianapolis Monthly. She has also worked as a designer and page editor at Gannett. She was also a communications and events intern at The Muncie Children’s Museum.

She was also a Pulliam fellow at The Indianapolis Star and editor-in-chief of Ball Bearings Magazine. She was also a marketing and graphic design intern at Leading Edge Industrial Technologies LLC and has served as a PR and media intern at David Owsley Museum of Art.

She was also a communications and marketing intern at The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art.

Sabens holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism graphics and magazine media from Ball State University.
