The following press release was sent out by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
Teresa Lindeman and David Garth have been named co-managing editors of the Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) Post-Gazette. Lindeman’s focus will be on day-to-day oversight of the news report and staff development, while Garth will direct the newsroom’s multimedia editing structure and production functions. Both co-managing editors will assume their new roles immediately.
Executive Editor Stan Wischnowski, who joined the Post-Gazette in September 2020, said: “During my brief time here, David and Teresa have proven to be exceptional journalists and highly effective managers and leaders. They will play distinct roles in our continued transformation as a premier digital news organization and our status as Western Pennsylvania’s leading newspaper of record.”
Lindeman, who will assume the title of managing editor, news and features, has been with the Post-Gazette since 1998, serving as a business reporter, then business editor and in 2019 was named assistant managing editor, business and features. She has been serving as acting managing editor since late 2020.
Garth, who becomes managing editor, editing and standards, joined the Post-Gazette 1990 as a sports reporter and spent nearly 15 years in that role. He transitioned into management in 2009, when he became the Post-Gazette’s copy desk chief and the editor primarily in charge at night. In this position, he created the Post-Gazette’s first universal editing desk and has had a hand in the PG’s most significant work in recent years, including its 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Reporting and 2020 Pulitzer finalist honor for Local Reporting.
Both co-managing editors bring a wealth of experience, talent and spirit of collaboration to these newly created co-managing editor roles.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has served the Pittsburgh community, its readers and advertisers as the region’s indispensable source of news, advertising and information for more than two centuries.
