Patrick Steel, the chief executive officer of Politico, the national media platform covering political and policy news, will be giving a talk to students as part of the University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School Virtual Distinguished Leaders Lecture Series.
The talk takes place today Thursday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m.
After spending 16 years a successful investment banker, Patrick Steel became the chief executive officer of Politico, described as the “ESPN of politics.”
Steel wrote in his introductory memo, “I know what a company is supposed to be like, look like, and smell like to succeed.”
Politico launched in 2006 with the purpose of covering Capitol Hill and was initially titled the Capitol Leader.
“Our mission of providing essential, trusted, and non-partisan information is exactly the tonic that is needed to effect and inspire change at a truly historic moment in history,” said Steel “The key to our success is drawn from the indispensable nature of our journalism and content.”
He also directed attention towards the company’s introduction of new products and increased online revenue and the publication’s strong coverage of emerging topics.
