Peter Geoghegan has been named editor-in-chief and CEO of openDemocracy.
Recently, Geoghegan was an investigations editor at openDemocracy. During his time here, he was nominated for the British Journalism awards in 2019 and 2020, and the Paul Foot award for investigative journalism in 2019 and 2021.
He has also freelanced for The Guardian, The Scotsman, The Glasgow Herald, The Irish Times, The Times Literary Supplement, The Belfast Telegraph, The London Review of Books, The Irish Examiner, Foreign Policy, The Sunday Independent, and The Sunday Business Post.
He has also contributed to television and radio stations including France 24, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Ulster, RTÉ and Today FM.
He is also the recipient of three separate Simon Cumbers Media Fund awards in 2011 and 2012.
Geoghegan holds a PhD. from the University of Edinburgh.
