Sara Chodosh will be joining Opinion graphics as a graphics editor. Her first day will be October 25. As is typical for new Opinion graphics hires, Sara will join the newsroom graphics team for some training before coming to Opinion.
Sara comes to us from Popular Science, where she’s worked most recently as an associate editor. In 2020, she invested in her programming and data viz skills by enrolling at the University of Girona, where she earned a master’s degree (her second, in fact) in data visualization. Her first master’s degree is in science, health and environmental reporting from N.Y.U.
Emily Berch joins the newsletter group as an editorial assistant. She has fact-checked recently for Vox, Insider and The Intercept. She previously interned at The Nation, fact-checking and writing about rural and low-income issues. Earlier, Emily was the editor-in-chief of her college newspaper, the Iowa State Daily, where she was recognized by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for her breaking news reporting.
