Nestor Ramos

Nestor Ramos, who joined The New York Times during the pandemic and led his teams remotely, has been appointed metro editor.

Prior to the Times, he was a columnist at The Boston Globe, and ran a weekly newspaper in South Dakota. He then served as editor of local news at The Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, S.D., and from there moved to Rochester, N.Y., where he rose in ranks to become enterprise editor at the Democrat and Chronicle.

Ramos was a Pulitzer finalist for feature writing for “At the Edge of a Warming World,’’ a deeply reported exploration of the effects of climate change on Cape Cod, Mass. Be sure to congratulate Ramos via his Twitter page.
