Allen joined The Times in 2016 as a senior news assistant. He then became a senior news assistant for special projects. He was then promoted to the post of staff editor and then senior staff editor for special projects. He was also a senior photo editor at Allure Magazine.
Prior to that, he served as a digital photo editor, Pursuits, at Bloomberg and was an art editor at GQ.
Additionally, he has worked at Vogue.
Allen has a B.A. from the University of Southern California.
