The New York Times has promoted Gaia Tripoli to assistant editor for international photography, overseeing the international photo report. She will join the leadership team and manage editors working in New York, London, Hong Kong and Seoul.
Tripoli has been with The Times for 10 years, previously serving as photo editor. She has been involved in the international desk’s photo-driven projects and has helmed several visual dispatches during the pandemic.
Prior to joining The Times, she worked at Italy’s most renowned photo agencies and photo edited for an Italian monthly magazine. Tripoli left Milan for Paris in 2011 to join the International Herald Tribune.
