NY Times announces staff changes in sports

The following excerpt announcement was sent out from The New York Times sports editor Randy Archibold:

I am pleased to announce that Tania Ganguli, the former Lakers beat writer for The Los Angeles Times, will be joining us later this month as our national N.B.A. writer. She comes to us after stints at ESPN, the Houston Chronicle, The Florida Times-Union and the Orlando Sentinel, covering N.F.L. and N.B.A. teams and, before that, NASCAR and high school sports. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and is at work on a master’s in mass communications at the University of Minnesota.

Even before the pandemic, Andy Das was preparing to relocate to London as our first international editor based outside the U.S. I’m happy to say that the move is finally happening. Andy will be setting up shop next month to not only manage our correspondents there but to help expand our international ambitions, while serving as our early-morning editor to get the report rolling and make sure we get a jump on overnight coverage.

Kevin Draper will move into the investigative slot and David Chen will take his digging skills to the Sports business and media beat. Kevin will focus on a range of targets, including quick-turnaround pieces, while David will bring his deep knowledge of government and politics to the shifting business and media landscape.
