NY Magazine appoints Sicha editor-at-large

Choire Sicha

The New York Magazine has named Choire Sicha editor-at-large, reports Politico.

In his new role, Sicha will be writing short-form pieces along with longer essays and critical pieces for the magazine’s news and politics vertical, Intelligencer.

He will also be an editor focusing on special projects, especially on new New York editorial products, starting August 1.

Sicha joins from The New York Times where he was an editor, Styles section. Then, he moved into a role on newsletter strategy.

Before that, he was executive director, partner development at Vox Media. He has also taught at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

He has also written for various newspapers and magazines, including BookForum and The New York Times. He was also senior editor at New York Observer and editor at Gawker Media.

He is also the co-founder of The Awl, an independently owned, venture-capital-free family of successful websites, published out of Downtown Brooklyn.

Sicha is the author of “Very Recent History,” a nonfiction account published by HarperCollins.
