NPR promotes Calamur to chief Washington editor

Krishnadev Calamur

Krishnadev Calamur has been appointed chief Washington editor at National Public Radio.

He replaces Shirley Henry who was promoted to deputy managing editor for recruitment and development last fall.

Recently, Calamur held the post of deputy Washington editor. He has previously worked at NPR from May 2008 to July 2015 as a reporter and editor. In between his leaving and rejoining NPR, Calamur held a 4-year stint as senior editor at The Atlantic.

He has also edited for United Press International in Washington, the Washington Examiner and Asian Age.

Calamur has a M.A. in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
