New York Times hires two new photo editors

The following excerpt announcement was sent out by The New York Times director of photography Meaghan Looram and assistant managing editor Marc Lacey:

Sarah Eckinger will be our new photo editor for Live based in London. A native of Alabama, Sarah started her Times career in 2013 as a summer intern at the Times Magazine, while still in college. She returned for a repeat performance in 2014. After graduating from Yale, she spent three years at Hearst working at various publications including Seventeen, Esquire and Elle.

Sarah returned to The Times in 2018 as an editor on the Screens partnership with Samsung, and has subsequently edited on the Home, Express, Opinion, International and National desks.

Guillermo Hernández Martínez

Guillermo Hernández Martínez will be our new photo editor for Live based in New York. A native of Tequisquiapan and Toluca, Querétaro, Mexico, Guillermo was a deputy visual producer at The Players’ Tribune, where he worked as a photographer and photo editor for four years.

Prior to that, he worked as a staff photographer for the Springfield News-Leader (Springfield, Mo.) and held internships at Sports Illustrated, Golf Magazine and the Austin American-Statesman. Guillermo graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in History and Journalism.
