NBC News taps Johnstone as senior digital politics editor

NBC News has promoted Elizabeth Johnstone to the post of senior digital politics editor overseeing the network’s entire digital politics team.

Johnstone succeeds Gregg Birnbaum in her new role.

Previously, Johnstone was deputy politics editor, digital, at the network and has also served as a politics editor at NBC News Digital. Before that, she was a digital news and homepage editor at MSNBC and NBC News.

She was also with D Magazine for 5 years, joining as an editorial intern and then serving as events editor – FrontRow coordinator. She then held the post of online arts editor, before becoming the managing editor.

She was also a management intern at the Roundabout Theater Company and a production and development intern at NBC Universal. She has also worked as a fashion features intern at Harper’s Bazaar, Hearst Magazines, and was an assistant managing editor at Washington Square News.

Johnstone is a graduate of New York University.
