NBC News has tapped Yamiche Alcindor as Washington correspondent, based in the Washington bureau.
Alcindor is expected to begin in March and may continue to work as the moderator of PBS “Washington Week,” but will not continue her duties at PBS NewsHour, where she served as White House correspondent.
She has also contributed to NBC News and MSNBC. Previously, she was a national political reporter at The New York Times and a national multimedia journalist at USA Today. She has also reported for Newsday.
She has also interned at The Washington Post, Mmegi Newspaper, The Miami Herald, and the Seattle Times.
She has won several awards and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, which named her the organization’s Journalist of the Year in 2020.
Alcindor holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a master’s degree from New York University.
