The Miami Herald has promoted Alex Mena to the post of managing editor, helping oversee Miami newsroom operations and directing oversight over el Nuevo Herald.
Mena has been with the Herald for over 26 years, serving as editorial specialist, copy editor/designer, backup day/night metro slot editor, assistant sports editor, deputy sports editor, newsroom night operations chief, Sunday editor/news editor, sports editor, and recently as deputy managing editor.
He has also served as a copy editor/designer at Sun Sentinel Media Group.
Mena graduated from Florida International University.
