McClatchy’s Mahone exits for new opportunity

Rodney Mahone, VP on in-market sales for McClatchy and Georgia Market president, is leaving.

Mahone is a veteran McClatchy journalist, having joined the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer as VP of advertising. He then became president and publisher, overseeing total enterprise for digital and print operations for Columbus, GA’s largest media company, Columbus Ledger-Enquirer and LEAD Digital.

He then led strategic vision for the Georgia digital and print media enterprise, with full P&L ownership of Macon Telegraph, Columbus Ledger-Enquirer and excelerate Atlanta Digital Agency as regional president and publisher.

He was also the regional leader and market president for the Carolinas and was the first African American president and publisher of the Charlotte Observer, The (Columbia) State, (Hilton Head) Island Packet and Rock Hill Herald.

Mahone graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University.
