The Kansas City Star has promoted Katie Moore to the post of breaking news editor. Previously, she was a reporter on the breaking news team.
Moore also works as an independent photographer and contributes to Topeka Magazine, a quarterly publication from Sunflower Publishing.
Her work has also been published in The Boston Phoenix, The Committee to Protect Journalists, Lawrence and KANSAS Magazine, The Indypendent and The Progressive, among others. She has also reported for The Topeka Capital-Journal.
Moore won a 2017 silver award for beat reporting (law enforcement) from the Kansas City Press Club. She won a first-place award in 2018 for general news story from the Kansas Press Association and was a Poynter scholarship recipient for Stanford Open Policing Project workshop.
