The Kansas City Star has promoted Ian Cummings to the post of senior editor and Katie Moore to breaking news editor.
Cummings will be coordinating the paper’s Reimagined Print efforts, working with reporters and editors in Kansas City and the Wichita Eagle. Previously, he was an editor, overseeing the Star’s breaking news coverage. He has also worked as a City Hall reporter at Sarasota Herald-Tribune in Florida and was a public safety reporter at The Lawrence Journal World in the Kansas Area.
Cummings graduated from the University of Kansas, where he was editor-in-chief of the student paper.
Moore has been a part of the breaking news team since 2019. She has also been working as an independent photographer for the past 10 years, with her work being published in outlets like The Boston Phoenix. She has also reported for The Topeka Capital-Journal in Topeka, KS.
Moore has a B.A. from the University of Kansas and a M.A. from the University of San Diego.
