The New York Daily News has appointed veteran editor and journalist Andrew Julien as its interim editor.
Julien, who also serves as editor-in-chief and publisher of the Hartford Courant, is taking over from Robert York, who has left the company.
Both newspapers are owned by New York hedge fund Alden Global Capital.
Julien will continue in his role as publisher and editor-in-chief of the Courant. Before that, he has held various roles, including editor, metro editor and city editor. He was also part of the reporting team at the Hartford Courant that won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize.
Michael Gates, general manager of the Daily News said:
“Andrew Julien is one of Tribune’s top editors, and we’re pleased to have him heading up our newsroom. With his many years of experience and commitment to journalism, Andrew will provide steady leadership and guidance as we seek a new editor for the Daily News.”
