Holtzclaw appointed editor at The Daily News

Barry Holtzclaw, an award-winning editor from the San Francisco Bay Area has been named editor of The Daily News.

Holtzclaw brings more than 25 years of experience as newspaper publisher, editor and reporter to the newsroom.

His new role begins August 26.

“The Daily News has an impressive legacy of quality journalism and community service, with a talented, dedicated staff,” said Holtzclaw. “In these challenging times, strong local newspapers like The Daily News are more important than ever, and I’m committed to serving my new communities.”

Currently, Holtzclaw is working as investigative reporter for sanjoseinside.com and Metro Silicon Valley. Previously, Holtzclaw was managing editor of three award-winning (Best in California) weekly newspapers and two magazines, Morgan Hill Times, Gilroy Dispatch, Hollister Free Lance, and South Valley and San Benito; published by New SV Media.

He was also editor of Press Banner and served as vice president of, corporate communications at Comerica Bank. He also held the posts of partner and founding editor, vice president and chief operating officer at East Bay Business Journal.

Additionally, he was also president, CEO, publisher and editor of Wichita Business Journal.

Holtzclaw has also received individual first-place awards for in-depth reporting and editorial writing and his news teams won first-place awards for in-depth reporting, breaking news, online reporting and special sections.
