Gannett under investigation for working staffers overtime without pay

The NewsGuild is investigating US newspaper conglomerate Gannett, mainly for the issue of unpaid overtime work, reports CNN Business.

NewsGuild President Jon Schleuss sent a letter to Gannett CEO Mike Reed regarding the union’s plan to launch an investigation and requested the company do the same. The union also urged the company to agree to other labor protections proposed in the ongoing union bargaining.

The investigation comes following a public conversation on Twitter earlier this month among Gannett staffers and other journalists about unpaid overtime work.
