Gannett slashes jobs, cuts executive pays

Gannett is of the largest news organizations which has become an economic victim of the ongoing pandemic. As per reports, the publication giant has decided to lay off staff and cut senior executives’ salaries.

Asbury Park Press, Daily Record, Daily Journal, The Record, Herald News, The New Jersey Herald, Courrier-Post, Burlington County Times and the Pocono Record are among the newspapers which will be affected by the decision.

In addition, revenues are also staggering as there is no advertising due to everything being closed because of the pandemic.

So far, according to reports online via employee social media posts, some of the layoffs were sports and editorial staff at this point.
