Former Evening Standard executive editor Ashton on his new book
City A.M. acting editor Andy Silvester is joined by the Evening Standard’s former city and executive editor James Ashton on City A.M.’s podcast “The City View” to discuss the latter’s new book, “The Nine Types of Leader.”
Ashton will also talk about the business landscape as the economy enters a post-pandemic world.

To date, Ashton has developed a portfolio of activities, including content and consultancy, conference speaking and facilitation, journalism and podcasting, as well as being the author of various books.
During his career he served first as head of business, city editor and then as executive editor of London Evening Standard. He was also media and telecoms editor at The Sunday Times and then served as the city editor.
He has also worked as chief city correspondent at the Daily Mail.
Ashton holds a Master’s degree in English Language and Literature from the University of St. Andrews and holds a postgraduate diploma in newspaper journalism from City University London.
