Jim Gaines has been appointed statehouse bureau chief for the Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun and Journal-News newspapers.

Previously, Gaines was a business reporter at Knoxville News Sentinel and editor-in-chief of Starkville Daily News. He was also a local government reporter at The Telegraph and has written for Orlando Weekly.
He was also a city-county government reporter at Park City Daily News.
