Cox Enterprises names Gaines statehouse bureau chief

Jim Gaines has been appointed statehouse bureau chief for the Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun and Journal-News newspapers.

Dayton Daily News editor Jim Bebbington said:

“Jim is a great addition to our staff. He has a lot of experience covering local and state government. His work is going to continue our commitment to helping our readers understand what is going on in state government and how it affects them.”

Previously, Gaines was a business reporter at Knoxville News Sentinel and editor-in-chief of Starkville Daily News. He was also a local government reporter at The Telegraph and has written for Orlando Weekly.

He was also a city-county government reporter at Park City Daily News.
