CNN’s Santos joins NY Times as a staff editor

The New York Times has tapped Brian De Los Santos as a staff editor on the home team. There, he will handle the daily programming of the homepage’s desktop audience among other tasks.

Previously, Santos was with CNN, where he was producer, global programming. In this role, he executed day-to-day programming decisions for CNN’s homepages and platforms, and wrote and edited push alerts for CNN’s news app, among other tasks.

Before that, he was an assistant editor at Mashable, editing up to 20 stories daily, helping direct coverage for Mashable’s Snapchat Discover channel, including cover line crafting, copywriting and editing, and assigning content across the company’s verticals.

He has also served as a research assistant at Chicago Magazine.

Santos holds a B.S. in journalism and graphic communication from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and a M.S. in journalism and magazine writing from Northwestern University.
