Kate Cimini will be leaving The Salinas Californian to join The News-Press I-team, covering southwest Florida and all its happenings.
Cimini has been with the Gannett/USA Today Network since 2018.
Her stories have appeared in Gannett papers such as USA Today, The Arizona Republic and The Desert Sun, and in non-network partners such as The Mercury News, The East Bay Times, The Fresno Bee, and The Sacramento Bee.
She has also led local partnership with nonprofit newsroom CalMatters since 2019. She also revitalized the agricultural beat for The Salinas Californian.
Cimini has also freelanced for various publications, including Sports Illustrated, ESPN, Vice, and Yahoo.
She was also a journalist at Medill News Service and was an editorial fellow at the Washington Magazine.
Cimini earned her bachelor’s degree from Smith College and her master’s degree from New York University. She also has a M.S. in journalism from Northwestern University.
