Chicago Magazine editor-in-chief Carr exits

Amy Carr

Amy Carr, who was tapped as editor-in-chief of the Chicago Magazine in June, is stepping down to join Time Zone One, a global creative communications agency as senior VP of content and storytelling.

“I’m excited to help grow the business and find new ways to tell stories in this next chapter,” Carr said.

Carr is succeeded by Terry Noland, who starts in January. Noland previously served as the magazine’s executive editor for 7 years.

Carr is also the former features editor at the Chicago Tribune. She joined in 2013 as a development editor and was then promoted to the post of director of content, life and culture.

She also served as managing editor and then as executive editor of TimeOut Chicago. She also spent 15 years at the Daily Herald, where she has worked as a reporter and then as an assistant features editor.

Carr added:

“I came to Chicago magazine during a pivotal time of staff transition, and am so proud of the work we’ve been able to do there. We’ve built out a new team, developed a sustainable new business model for the future, and delivered on our commitment to cover all of Chicago. Knowing that the magazine will be in Terry’s talented and capable hands gives me great confidence that good things are ahead for Chicago.”
