She has also worked at Gannett and was editor and digital producer at Patch.com. She has also worked at CNN and has reported and produced for KOMU 8 & Mid-Missouri CW in Columbia, Missouri. She was also a special project multimedia producer at BusinessWeek.
Chao has a B.A. in broadcast journalism and sociology from Washington State University and a M.A. in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
