Statehouse reporter at Capitol Hill Illinois Rebecca Anzel and WUIS radio’s Sam Dunklau have gotten engaged and will be leaving their respective posts in Springfield departing for Pennsylvania. There, Dunklau will be bureau chief for the local NPR station and Anzel will freelance until she finds a new job, reports Politico.
Previously, Anzel was a statehouse reporting intern at the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. She has also worked as freelance journalist for Blank Slate Media and was a Lee Lutz fellow at Times Beacon Record News Media.
She was also a reporting intern at Scripps Howard Foundation Wire and held the post of editor-in-chief and then that of advertising manager at The Statesman. She was also a staff writer for Stony Brook Independent.
Anzel is a B.A. in journalism from Stony Brook University and an M.A. in public affairs reporting from University of Illinois Springfield.
Before coming to WUIS Radio, Dunklau was a reporter at NPR Illinois. He has also worked at Newsradio 1240 and 93.5 FM WTAX as a breaking news reporter.
He was also a statehouse reporting intern with NPR Illinois 91.9 FM and served as a reporter for WVIK Public Radio.
Dunklau is a B.A. in multimedia journalism and mass communication from Augustana College. He also holds a Master’s degree in public affairs reporting and broadcast journalism from University of Illinois Springfield.
