APCO taps CNN’s Defterios as senior advisor

John Defterios

APCO Worldwide has appointed former emerging markets editor/anchor John Defterios as a senior advisor.

In his new role, Defterios “will split his time between Europe and the MENA region, supporting the development of branded content for global media platforms.”

He will be based in London.

Defterios has been with CNN for over 13 years, having also served as an anchor-correspondent – CNN Marketplace Middle East.

He has also developed television programming in association with brands such as the International Herald Tribune, Business Week, Bloomberg from the Italian state broadcaster RAI in Rome.

Defterios also served as principal anchor/correspondent at CNN Business News.

He was also with Thomson Reuters for 5 years, where he worked as European correspondent/bureau chief and then as West Coast correspondent/bureau chief.

He was also a Capitol Hill producer-reporter at Nightly Business Report (PBS).

Defterios graduated from University of Southern California.
