The Record by Recorded Future has hired Catalin Cimpanu as its first dedicated reporter to build out a must-read site for cybersecurity news.
He starts on Monday.
A story on its website states, “Catalin has years of experience writing about information security, and has become a well-known name in the field for his constant scoops on new vulnerabilities, cyberattacks, and law enforcement actions against hackers. He’s been at ZDNet since 2018, where he wrote thousands of stories on everything from vulnerabilities in ballistic missile systems to the ever-changing ransomware landscape.
“Prior to that, Catalin wrote for the technology news website Bleeping Computer, and got his start reporting on cybersecurity while at Softpedia. He is based in Iași, Romania.
“Over the last year, Catalin’s favorite thing to write about has been ‘any article that’s not COVID-19 and remote work-related. You kind of get your fill after the first month,’ he said. He also enjoys covering academic research on cybersecurity topics.”
