Zakaria joining Quartz as contributing editor

Fareed Zakaria, the internationally renowned journalist, will join the Quartz business news site as a contributing editor, starting in September.

As part of this new relationship, he will write for The Atlantic as well as participate in events for Quartz, Atlantic Media’s global business news brand. His first outing will be with Quartz’s flagship The Next Billion: A Connected World Conference in New York in November.

“I have read The Atlantic with pleasure for three decades. It is the best forum for ideas in the world and I’m delighted to be a part of it and Quartz,” said Zakaria in a statement.

Zakaria has won a Peabody award for his CNN show, “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” and a National Magazine award for his columns and commentary.

Described by Esquire magazine as “the most influential foreign policy adviser of his generation,” he has written widely on international and national affairs and interviewed many world leaders, including President Obama, Prime Minister Cameron, President Dmitry Medvedev, the Dalai Lama, and Moammar Gadaffi, as well as countless business and thought leaders from around the world.

He is also a columnist for The Washington Post. He spent a decade, from 2000 to 2010, as a columnist for Newsweek and editor of Newsweek International and was then Editor-at-Large at Time magazine.
