Yahoo Finance reporter Heaphy is departing

Edmund Heaphy, a reporter for Yahoo Finance in London, is leaving after two years with the news organization.

Heaphy said on Twitter that he will be freelancing for now and taking on a new job in 2021.

He has been primarily focused on the technology industry, writing often about startups and venture capital firms. He has a special interest in the effects of government and EU policy on tech giants such as Facebook and Google, but he also wrote about central banks and fintech.

He previously covered Brexit and European politics for Quartz, Germany for the New York Times in Berlin, and was a homepage editor at Ireland’s national state broadcaster.

Before that, he was a journalist with Ireland’s Sunday Business Post newspaper.
