Akiko Fujita has been hired by Yahoo Finance as an on-air anchor/reporter, coming from CNBC International where she was previously the Hong Kong-based co-host of “Squawk Box Asia.”
Fujita will work across the daily live shows, covering markets and other stories of the day.
In addition to co-anchoring “Squawk Box Asia” out of Hong Kong, Fujita also reported across the region, with a heavy focus on the tech sector, and covered some of the biggest political stories in the region, including the Trump-Kim Summit.
Prior to CNBC, Fujita was a Tokyo-based correspondent for ABC News, where she led network coverage of the 2011 tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan.
A Los Angeles native, Fujita is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where she majored in broadcast journalism and international relations.
