Yahoo Finance hires DeAngelis as anchor of new show

Yahoo Finance has hired CNBC energy correspondent Jackie DeAngelis to be an anchor.

DeAngelis will anchor Yahoo Finance’s new 2 p.m. program, “The Ticker,” beginning Jan. 22.

She has deep reporting experience on commodities, with a focus on energy. Previously, she spent 13 years at CNBC, where she was a correspondent and the host of CNBC’s online show, “Futures Now.” In this role, DeAngelis reported from the field covering hurricanes and pipeline protests, as well the New York Mercantile Exchange and Nasdaq MarketSite.

She has also interviewed energy industry leaders like the secretary general of OPEC and CEOs of Fortune 500 energy companies.

DeAngelis is a graduate of Cornell University with a B.A. in Asian studies and history and holds a juris doctorate from Rutgers School of Law.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
