Daniel Roberts is joining Yahoo Finance as a writer, covering technology and the business of sports.
He starts Jan. 11. As part of his new role he will also contribute to Yahoo Sports, leveraging his expertise in that area.
Roberts spent more than five years at Fortune magazine, where he wrote a wide range of features articles for both print and online, including multiple cover stories. He also led the magazine’s 40 Under 40 franchise and its ranking of tech “unicorn” valuations, and has profiled everyone from the chief executives of major companies like MasterCard, Under Armour, and Anheuser-Busch Inbev, to former FBI Director Louis Freeh, sports agent Leigh Steinberg, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, chef David Chang, and many more.
While at Time Inc., Roberts also did a great deal of work for Sports Illustrated, overseeing its annual Fortunate 50 athlete earnings list and developing a joint profile series with Fortune.
Roberts is the primary author of the book “Zoom: Surprising Ways to Supercharge Your Career” and a board member at The Deadline Club, the New York chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. He graduated from Middlebury College and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
