WSJ’s Hilsenrath to contribute to Fox Business

Fox Business Network said Thursday it hired The Wall Street Journal’s chief economics correspondent Jon Hilsenrath as a contributor to appear both on the business network and on Fox News Channel.

“Jon’s impressive background and expertise in global economics will make a great addition to FBN’s all-star business lineup, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the team,” said Kevin Magee, executive vice president of the network, in a statement.

Hilsenrath joined The Journal in 1997 and currently covers the Federal Reserve along with the U.S. and global economies. He previously served as the Markets Editor, overseeing the global stock, bond and currency markets.

Hilsenrath will continue to work at the Journal.

Prior to joining the Journal, he was a freelance reporter for the New York Times and Time magazine, and worked as a finance reporter for Knight-Ridder Financial News.

In 2009, Hilsenrath, along with a team of journalists,  won an award for distinguished business reporting from the New York Newspaper Publishers Association for their article “Lehman’s Demise: The Shock Heard Round The World.” He also received the Best of Knight-Bagehot Award for excellence in economics writing in 2003 for a package of stories on the global economy. His first-hand accounts and reporting of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks was a part of The Journal’s Pulitzer Prize winning coverage of the event.
