WSJ: What did you want to be when you were a child?
AD: I created my preschool class newspaper. Journalism has always been it.WSJ: How would you describe what you do each day?
AD: I think about how to build and distribute our newsroom products in a way that is best for readers to understand—from partnering with Life & Arts to consider packages, to creating the WSJ Print Edition app when readers couldn’t receive papers early in the pandemic.WSJ: Who has empowered you the most in your career?
AD: My mother was a single parent who hid me in her New York Telephone truck when she couldn’t afford childcare. She passed away when I was a teenager, so the years we had together had a deep impact on me. Even though life was difficult, she was a fountain of positivity who preached valuing people for who they are, not their titles or wealth.
