Wall Street Journal strategy editor Becky Bowers has been hired by the Philadelphia Inquirer as director of product.
She will start at the end of April.
“I’m heartbroken to leave my dear colleagues at The Wall Street Journal, who I’ve learned so much from over the last seven years,” she wrote on Twitter.
Bowers has been with the Journal since September 2014, first as editor of real time economics and then as deputy global economics editor. She has been the strategy editor since January 2020, ensuring digital journalism and ensuring newsroom initiatives are translated into coverage.
She previously spent more than 12 years at the St. Petersburg Times/Tampa Bay Times, including stints as deputy business editor and as Politifact digital operations manager.
