The following staff opening was distributed at The Wall Street Journal on Thursday afternoon:
The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires are looking for a versatile, experienced reporter to cover banks and insurance in one of the world’s biggest financial centers–and nicest places to live–Zurich. Switzerland is home to many big, global banks and some fascinating financial stories, from tax debates to investment bank drama, from currency plays to Central Bank travails. It’s a great opportunity for a motivated writer who knows finance to break news and analysis for a demanding audience and write deeper features about the global industry for The Wall Street Journal, WSJ.com, FX Trader and Dow Jones Newswires. Besides covering many of the biggest and most important companies in Switzerland, the reporter will be part of the larger, integrated European financial team that is covering the hottest major story in the world right now: The European financial crisis.
The ideal candidate will bring a track record of breaking corporate news, ideally in financial services, and delivering deeply reported, news-making enterprise stories. He or she will have a proven ability to develop deep sources; be a self-starter with a curious, inquisitive mind; and have at least three years of reporting experience in daily journalism.
Full fluency in English is required. German is highly desirable as well. If interested, please contact Zurich bureau chief Anita Greil at anita.greil@dowjones.com.
