Wall Street Journal deputy managing editor Deborah Brewster sent out the following announcement to the staff on Wednesday:
The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires are looking for a foreign-exchange strategist who can deliver smart, opinionated commentary and analysis quickly for publication. The strategist will formulate views and identify trading opportunities in a range of actively traded currencies, including G10 and emerging markets.
The ideal candidate will have experience with this type of market analysis in the financial services sector, specifically with foreign-exchange markets; will have knowledge of derivatives and spot markets; and will have a record of writing quick, original reports on market trends and opportunities. The ability to write clearly, engagingly and without jargon also is important. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, problem solving and a good command of written and spoken English are a must.
Please attach a resume, cover letter and four writing samples, and apply online at www.dowjones.com. Interested parties can also contact Gabby Stern (Gabriella.stern@dowjones.com).
Talking Biz News reported last month that the “secret project” being worked on at these News Corp. properties involves covering forex. So it’s likely this position would focus on writing for that unnamed project.
