WSJ Sunday turns 11

September 12, 2010

David Crook, the editor of the Wall Street Journal Sunday, which appears in daily papers across the country, writes Sunday about how the section has changed in the past year as it turns 11.

Crook writes, “Our partnership with co-owned SmartMoney magazine is giving you major stories before the magazine is available to the general public. We have continued our long association with the Journal’s book division to bring you excerpts of important works by Journal staffers.

“And we have beefed up our lineup of exclusive stories, columns and commentaries. Sunday Journal has long distinguished itself as a unique syndicated newspaper feature: We publish original articles on real deadlines. When the market turned ugly in the spring, Sunday Journal was on top of every gyration from the euphoria of April’s market highs to the pandemonium of May’s 1,000-point ‘flash crash.’

“We introduced some pointed business commentary with the weekly ‘Al’s Emporium’ column by Dow Jones Newswires columnist Al Lewis. We marked the return of Jeff D. Opdyke‘s popular ‘Love & Money’ column. And addressing the era’s bleak employment prospects, we added Sarah E. Needleman‘s ‘The Accidental Entrepreneur’ column and revamped our careers coverage with writer Dennis Nishi.”
