Joanna Chung, who is the law bureau chief at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following job announcement on Tuesday:
The Wall Street Journal’s Law Bureau is looking for a driven, experienced journalist to cover New York’s enforcement agencies. The person will lead coverage of investigations emanating from the U.S. Attorney’s offices in Manhattan and Brooklyn, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New York state attorney general and the Manhattan DA. This is an enterprise position, and the right candidate will be expected to deliver substantial scoops and smart stories for all parts of the paper and online that go well beyond reporting what the agencies disclose.
Previous reporters on this beat have helped break news on the government’s investigation into insider trading, terrorism, political scandals, cybercrimes, money laundering and tax scams, and those will continue to be priorities for the beat. Candidates should have a track record of significant scoops and a proven ability to develop deep sources. Also required is the ability to drive coverage while working closely with reporters across the paper.
