WSJ reporter promoted to news editor

Wall Street Journal managing editor Marcus Brauchli sent out the following announcement on Thursday:

“We’re pleased to announce that Robert Frank will become a news editor, with significant new responsibilities that build upon his successful coverage of wealth and the world of the wealthy. Robert will continue to dig into this enormously fertile area, writing big stories for Page One, the Weekend section and other parts of the paper, while continuing his Wealth Report blog for WSJ.com.

“In addition, he will be an adviser to the team that is developing a magazine about luxury and wealth, work closely with our Money and Investment and Personal Finance teams to help them cover high-end finance, and work with our bureaus around the world to help generate more coverage in related areas, including philanthropy, residential real-estate, and art. He also will also help to develop possible events related to those areas. Robert will report to Deputy Managing Editor Mike Miller.

“Robert has been one of the Journal’s best producers of memorable feature stories for 14 years, with postings in Atlanta, London, Singapore and New York. His book, Richistan: A Journey Through the American Wealth Boom and the Lives of the New Rich, was a New York Times best-seller and is being published in more than a dozen countries.

“Please join us in congratulating Robert on his newest assignment.”
