WSJ reporter Hook returning to LA Times

Janet Hook

Janet Hook, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal in its Washington bureau, is leaving the paper after eight years and joining the Los Angeles Times.

She will cover politics.

Hook joined the Washington bureau in 2010 to cover Congress. She spent the previous 15 years covering Congress, national politics and election campaigns for the Times.

She was a reporter for Congressional Quarterly Weekly Report from 1983 to 1995, a reporter for the Chronicle of Higher Education from 1979 to 1983, and assistant editor of The Public Interest Magazine from 1978 to 1979.

She has received several journalism awards for her politics coverage, including the Everett Dirksen Award for distinguished reporting on Congress, and was a John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
