All,
I am excited to share the news that Lora Western has been named Deputy Publishing Chief.
Lora is an expert editor with broad knowledge of the newsroom and a deep understanding of the best ways to reach our digital audience. In two decades at the Journal, Lora has worked in nearly every coverage area. She was recently the inaugural Washington News Editor in New York, coordinating between the D.C. coverage team and platform, publishing and visuals teams in New York to drive breaking news and enterprise projects from Washington. Through her expertise and creativity, Lora has made strides in finding better ways to deliver our journalism to readers, especially on mobile. I am thrilled she will bring that same energy to the Publishing Desk.
Lora joined Dow Jones as an editor at The Wall Street Journal Asia in Hong Kong, serving as deputy managing editor there before moving to New York, where she ran the foreign news desk. She managed the New York-based news desk that produced the overseas editions, then joined the U.S. desk when it was created in 2008.
In 2011 she jumped to digital full time, working on the WSJ.com hub team, before joining the markets desk as digital point person and then serving as the digital partner for corporate coverage.
Lora began her career covering the electronics factories of Asia for a Hong Kong-based trade magazine. She is a graduate of Northwestern University.
She will join the Publishing Desk next month. Please congratulate Lora on her new role with us.
