WSJ names Waller its deputy corporate coverage chief

Nikki Waller

Jamie Heller, the business editor of The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following announcement:

Hello,

I am delighted to announce that Nikki Waller is joining Corp as Deputy Corporate Coverage Chief. An accomplished editor and admired leader, Nikki has launched and led some of our most important initiatives and journalism during her 12-year tenure at the Journal.

Nikki was one of the founding editors of our Greater New York section, running its digital coverage. She then took over the Management & Careers bureau and for six years oversaw standout work, including the series on middle managers, the series on contract workers and coverage of the disbandment of the CEO groups advising the president. Nikki has experience leading both breaking news and enterprise across a wide range of industries, as management coverage often cross pollinates with specific businesses and other coverage areas.

A few years ago Nikki was tapped to create a new group at the Journal, Live Journalism. Nikki built a tremendous team from scratch. And as all of you who have participated in our events and conference calls know, this group under Nikki’s leadership has done an absolutely fantastic job delivering both editorially and organizationally.

Nikki is joining me, George Stahl, Chip Cummins, Neil Western and the whole global corp team at a time of enormous challenge. Under often trying conditions, we are all striving to bring the best of ourselves and the Journal to this crucial and historic coverage. I feel fortunate personally and for the Journal writ large to have Nikki joining our daily journalistic effort.

A graduate of Northwestern University and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, Nikki lives in Brooklyn with her husband and young son.

Please join me in welcoming Nikki to the corporate team,

Jamie
