Duncan Mavin, Europe finance editor for The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires, sent out the following staff announcement on Wednesday:
We are delighted to announce that Jenny Strasburg is appointed senior finance reporter in the London Banking and Insurance Team.
Fresh from her ground-breaking coverage of SAC Capital in New York, Jenny will dig into all aspects of the City of London as part of our newly-revamped markets and banking team.
After graduating from New Mexico State University, Jenny began her journalism career in Texas before joining the San Francisco Examiner in 1999 as a general business reporter. She moved to New York in 2005 for a Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Business and Economics Journalism at Columbia University. She then joined Bloomberg as a hedge-fund reporter before moving to the Journal the week Bear Stearns went down in 2008.
Since then, she has been a pivotal member of the M&I team, breaking a slew of hedge fund and markets-related stories. She has delved into everything from insider trading to complex exchange and market structure issues.
Jenny will move to London in October and report to Europe Banking and Insurance Editor David Enrich. Please join us in congratulating her on her new role.
