WSJ names Reilly its deputy finance chief

David Reilly

Wall Street Journal finance editor Dennis Berman sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:

Please give a big congratulations to David Reilly, who is named the Wall Street Journal’s Deputy Chief for Finance.

It is a role for which he is deeply suited.

Dave has been with the Journal since 2000. He started out in Brussels, moved to London to take over what was then the Heard in Europe column and went on to cover European markets and the Parmalat scandal. He returned to New York in 2006 and took up the accounting beat before moving onto the Heard on the Street column just in time for its relaunch and the financial crisis. After writing about banks and the financial system for the Heard, Dave became deputy editor and then editor of the WSJ’s highly regarded markets-commentary franchise.

In spring 2016, he became banking editor, leading coverage of the Wells Fargo sales-practices scandal, the Equifax hack and lots of stories having to do with the 2-10 spread and NIM.

Dave is originally from New York, but now lives in New Jersey with his wife and two sons. He graduated from NYU.
